OBSERVING ART

Often people will say to me,

Leave behind the deadening world of

preconception…

Use your senses fully.

Be where you are.

Just look, don’t interpret.

See what you are looking at

with an open mind.

See the light, shapes, colours, textures.

Be aware of the silent

presence of each object.

Be conscious of the space that allows it to be.

Touch, feel and acknowledge its being.

Note the rhythm of your breathing;

feel the air flowing in and out,

feel the life energy inside your body.

Allow everything to be observed as a whole

without looking at detail.

Permit its existence.

Then you will be in harmony with it and yourself...

Statement

Working principally in two distinct disciplines, painting and sculpting, both intellectually complementary, he succeeds in transmitting a spiritual analysis that touches our profound sensibilities. This is accomplished with a purity of line and simplicity of form, which transcends a wide range of textures and subtle balanced colours, always searching and aiming towards the light. This shows us at what point the artist attains the depths of the human soul. From this strength of expression flows a force and wisdom...

At present living and working in England after 19 years in France. He left his native England in 1991 to install the studio in Provence. He works in two parallel ways "Abstract Symbolism", and "Abstract". The theme "Human Emotions», evolves symbolically around our everyday lives. It contains what is personally fundamental to us, the family, our children and the people close to us. The oval is the symbol of expression par excellences, and it recurs incessantly in his work passing by a multitude of transformations. The form itself is metaphorical, representing the egg, the beginning of life. Portraying, the facets of human existence in this way, he gives us the keys to our imagination and emotions…
